Pianist Karla Haltenwanger, born in Bucharest, completed her studies with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling with distinction and received further artistic guidance from Homero Francesch in Zurich, Georg Sava in Berlin, and Ferenc Rados in Vienna and Budapest.
In 2006, she founded the now internationally renowned Boulanger Trio together with Birgit Erz and Ilona Kindt. As the ensemble’s pianist, Karla Haltenwanger has appeared at major music festivals including the Rheingau Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and Beethoven Festival Warsaw, as well as at prestigious concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Musikverein Vienna, and Wigmore Hall London.
Her discography includes recordings of works by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Schoenberg, Shostakovich, and Rihm, among others. She is also co-founder and artistic director of the Boulanger Trio’s own concert series, “Boulangerie,”which has welcomed guests such as Matthias Pintscher, Kaija Saariaho, Friedrich Cerha, and Beat Furrer.
Karla Haltenwanger is a chamber music faculty member at ECMA – the European Chamber Music Academy, founded by Hatto Beyerle.
