Who can apply?
The YCM Academy is open to advanced young musicians aged 12 and above. Both individual applications from violinists, violists, cellists and pianists and applications from existing chamber music ensembles are warmly welcome.
What does the YCM Academy offer?
Individual development and chamber music are equally central to the course: all participants receive daily individual lessons and chamber music coachings with different tutors.
A chamber orchestra project for all string players complements the programme. The concerts give all participants the opportunity to perform both as soloists and in their ensemble.
Arrival is on October 22 before dinner, and departure is on October 29 after breakfast. This gives us six full course days from October 23 to 28.
Where does the Academy take place?
The YCM Academy takes place at the Landesmusikakademie NRW in Heek-Nienborg. Set within the historic grounds of a former ring castle, the Academy offers an inspiring setting for an intensive week of music-making, with rehearsal and concert halls, accommodation and shared meals all in one place.
And there is, of course, time to unwind too – whether over table tennis, kicker, football or an evening of games by the fireplace.
How much does it cost?
The participation fee is €750, including tuition as well as accommodation and meals at the Landesmusikakademie NRW.
A limited number of reduced-fee places at €600 are available for participants who require financial support. You can apply for a reduced-fee place directly through the application form.
How do I apply?
Below you’ll find the application form. We’ll ask you to submit a video so we can get a sense of your playing and, if you’re applying individually, find suitable chamber music partners for you.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for as long as places remain available.

How do I get to Heek?
For participants travelling by train, pick-up from Ahaus, Ochtrup or Bad Bentheim station can be arranged in advance, depending on the route.
The nearest airports are Düsseldorf and Münster-Osnabrück.
