Who can apply?

The YCM Academy is open to talented and advanced young musicians aged 12 and above.

We particularly welcome applications from existing pre-college chamber music ensembles of three or more players. Individual applications are also welcome from violinists, violists, cellists and pianists. Selected individual applicants will be matched with other musicians to form suitable ensembles.

What does the YCM Academy offer?

At the heart of the YCM Academy is intensive chamber music, with each ensemble receiving daily coaching from different members of our faculty.

In addition, every participant will receive four 45-minute individual lessons. Evening rehearsals in larger ensembles complement the programme, and daily concerts give every participant the opportunity to perform in at least two concertsduring the Academy.

Where does the Academy take place?

The YCM Academy takes place at the Landesmusikakademie NRW in Heek-Nienborg. Set within the historic grounds of a former ring castle, the Academy offers an inspiring setting for an intensive week of music-making, with rehearsal and concert halls, accommodation and shared meals all in one place.

And there is, of course, time to unwind too – whether over table tennis, kicker, football or an evening of games by the fireplace.

How much does it cost?

The participation fee is €750, including tuition as well as accommodation and meals at the Landesmusikakademie NRW.

A limited number of reduced-fee places at €600 are available for participants who require financial support. You can apply for a reduced-fee place directly through the application form.

How do I apply?

Below you will find the application form. Every application must include at least one recent video. Existing ensembles are encouraged to submit an ensemble performance video whenever possible. Newly formed ensembles, ensembles formed specifically for the course, and individual applicants should submit individual videos.

The application deadline is 31 August 2026. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 4 September 2026.
